CAPF (AC) 2015 Exam

The Union Public Service Commission conducts written examination for recruitment of Assistant Commandants (Group A) in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) viz. Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).

CPF Exam Eligibility

  • Age eligibility: Minimum 20 years & Maximum 25 years as on 1st August of the exam year
  • Academic eligibility: A degree from a recognised University or equivalent
  • Physical Standards eligibility: You need to have minimum Physical Standards as given in the notification
  • Female candidates can not apply for BSF and ITBP

There will be negative marking in Objective Type Question Paper. Physical and medical standards test will be conducted only for those candidates who qualify the written examination. Interview for personal test will be of 200 marks.

UPSC CPF General Ability and Intelligence Syllabus

Paper I CAPF: General Ability and Intelligence 

This paper contains objective type questions with multiple choices. This paper broadly covers following areas:
1. General Mental Ability
The questions will be designed to test the logical reasoning, quantitative aptitude including numerical ability, and data interpretation.
2. General Science
The questions will be set to test general awareness, scientific temper, comprehension and appreciation of scientific phenomena of everyday observation including new areas of importance like Information Technology, Biotechnology, Environmental Science.
3. Current Events of National and International Importance
The questions will test your awareness of current events of national and international importance in the broad areas of culture, music, arts, literature, sports, governance, societal and developmental issues, industry, business, globalisation, and interplay among nations.
4. Indian Polity and Economy
The questions aim to test your knowledge of India's political system and the Constitution of India, social systems and public administration, economic development in India, regional and international security issues and human rights including its indicators.
5. History of India
The questions will broadly cover the subject in its social, economic and political aspects. This will also include the areas of growth of nationalism and freedom movement.
6. Indian and World Geography
The questions will cover the physical, social and economic aspects of geography pertaining to India and the World.

CPF General Studies, Essay and Comprehension Syllabus

Paper II CAPF: General Studies, Essay and Comprehension

This paper contains two parts - A and B. The exam is of 200 marks and the duration of the paper is 3 hours. 

Part-A

Essay questions which are to be answered in long narrative form either in Hindi or English totalling 80 marks. The indicative topics are modern Indian history especially of the freedom struggle, geography, polity and economy, knowledge of security and human rights issues, and analytical ability.

Part-B

Comprehension, précis writing, other communications and language skills. The paper is to be attempted in English only (marks 120). The topics are Comprehension passages, précis writing, developing counter arguments, simple grammer and other aspects of language testing.

Paper I: General Ability and Intelligence and Professional Skill

PART-A: General Ability and Intelligence

In this paper, the objective type questions with multiple choices will broadly cover the following areas:
1. General Mental Ability
The questions will be designed to test the logical reasoning, quantitative aptitude including numerical ability and data interpretation.
2. General Science

Paper II : Essay, Précis Writing and Comprehension

This paper shall test candidates’ ability to bring to fore his/her ideas on the given essay topic, arrange them in a coherent, orderly, concise, understandable and lucid manner in effective and grammatically correct language free from spelling errors.
Further, this shall test candidates’ ability to understand the given passages for précis-writing and comprehension and their skills to summarise the précis passage and reply to the short-answered questions on the comprehension passage.
